When you find yourself in a sticky legal situation its hard to find the right attorney with honest intentions especially if you’re someone like me who has a hard time trusting people in general. I have heard horror stories of scumbag attorneys that give you false promises just to get your money. THAT IS NOT the case here with Mr. Jeff Kent. Where do I even begin? Jeff Kent is more than a lawyer… he’s a guardian angel. I’ve never faced any type of crime in all my years of life. I’ve never been arrested, and I’ve never even had issues with traffic tickets.

During the Christmas season, I had a little side hustle where I sold replica AirPods that were definitely fake. Honestly, it was hard to believe anyone didn’t know they weren’t real because I was selling them for $30–$50 each. My customers loved them, kept coming back, and even sent me referrals. If someone asked if they were fake, I’d just tell them to try them out and let me know what they thought. They’d test them, like them, and buy them. If they broke, I’d replace them for free. I convinced myself I was doing a good service.

Did I think I was doing something wrong? Honestly, I had convinced myself that I wasn’t. But that didn’t matter—what I was doing was wrong. One day, I was arrested in an undercover sting operation after selling about $400 worth of AirPods to a plainclothes police officer. They said the value was worth more than $3,000 if they were real. That led to me being taken to the police station, booked, and charged with a felony. Yes—a felony. Mugshot and everything. I bailed myself out, but I was completely humiliated.

I have a life insurance license that I’ve held for years, and suddenly I was terrified I’d lose it. I also thought I was going to lose my job. I’d never felt so alone. I was embarrassed to tell anyone, extremely anxious, and I couldn’t even focus on work. On top of that, I had to report the arrest to the Department of Insurance. The thought of losing my career and everything I had worked for was crushing.

I reached out to a few different lawyers for consultations, but none of them made me feel comfortable. Then I called Jeff. From the very first appointment, he made me feel good about the situation and reassured me that he’d do his best. And he did better than that—he got my entire case dismissed in just a few months! Normally, this would have taken 6 months to a year (or longer), but Jeff made it happen in under 5 months. That’s unbelievable.

I was expecting the worst, but Jeff stayed positive and kept me calm and informed every step of the way. In the end, I didn’t have to pay any restitution at all. All I had to do was complete 10 hours of community service. That was it. And now, I don’t have to report this arrest anywhere on any application. I can legally answer “NO, I HAVE NOT BEEN ARRESTED.” I have a clean record as if nothing ever happened—and I’m so thankful for that.

Integrity and ethics mean everything, and I let that slip for a moment when I was chasing extra Christmas money. Not all money is good money, and I’ve learned my lesson the hard way. But I’m so thankful that Jeff gave me another chance. He’s patient, calm, and answered all my questions (even when I asked the same one over and over). I walked into his office a nervous wreck, but he always made me feel comfortable.

And this is important: I saw Jeff before those long months of fear set in. If I hadn’t, I don’t know how I would’ve made it through. For months, I lived with that fear, not knowing if I’d face jail time or if my professional license would be gone forever—but Jeff carried me through it.
