Police across the country are tasked with a difficult job. As part of the job responsibilities, they are often asked to respond to concerns that often prove to be unfounded. Unfortunately, a recent report of a suspected break-in has recently resulted in criminal accusations in California, including weapon and drug charges.
Police claim they went to a California residence one evening in November after neighbors contacted them, reporting a possible burglary. When they arrived at the scene, police detained three people. One of the people, a 24-year-old man, was ultimately determined to reside at the location. However, as he was a felon on probation, police searched the premises.
As a result of that search, police claim, they discovered drug paraphernalia at the residence as well as methamphetamine in the man’s possession. They additionally claim they discovered a gun and ammunition in a locked safe. A 29-year-old woman was also arrested after police say she was in possession of methamphetamine and drug possession. During the booking process, police claim they discovered others controlled substances hidden on her person.
The man is accused weapon crimes while the woman faces drug charges. Unfortunately, they may not be fully aware of their options as they proceed through the criminal justice system. In order to ensure that they are able to make informed decisions about their case, they may choose to seek guidance from an experienced criminal defense attorney. Such a professional can also help determine whether the two people who arrested were treated unlawfully in the events leading up to and following their arrest.
