Drivers in California must remain vigilant at all times. Unfortunately, even the safest of drivers can face unexpected obstacles, potentially including pedestrians in the street. When an accident occurs, some drivers may be unsure how to react, sometimes resulting in a flight-or-fight response that could ultimately create legal complications. In fact, a man is now suspected of vehicular manslaughter after he was allegedly involved in an incident involving a pedestrian.

Police say that the incident happened at approximately 8:15 p.m. on a day in March. Reports accused a 29-year-old man of driving at a high rate of speed. He allegedly turned right at an intersection where it is believed that he struck a 51-year-old man who was crossing the street, reportedly near the intersection.

Unfortunately, the pedestrian died. Officers say that the driver they think was involved in the accident failed to remain at the scene. However, they were reportedly able to track the vehicle down, allegedly parked at a residence nearby. The driver was then taken into custody.

In addition to accusations of vehicular manslaughter, the man faces several other charges, including hit-and-run and driving under the influence. The loss of a life is always a tragedy, and the desire for answers is understandable. However, accusations of vehicular manslaughter do not serve justice in California if they are not fully supported by the evidence. An experienced criminal defense attorney can help this man fully understand his legal options, ensuring that he is capable of making informed decisions regarding the direction of his case.
