All romantic relationships are unique. Though some can be volatile, violence is relatively rare. However, a man in California is now likely considering his criminal defense after he was recently accused of attacking his girlfriend.

The incident reportedly happened during the early morning hours of a day in late March. According to the alleged victim, she told her 26-year-old boyfriend — with whom she shares a home — that she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him. As a result, she claims that the man took her phone, bit her and attempted to strangle her. Reports indicate that the woman suffered visible injuries.

The woman reportedly did not immediately report the incident to police. However, she claims that the man came to her place of employment after the initial incident and threatened to hurt her. Police say they were able to locate the man a short distance from where she works and arrest him. He now faces multiple charges, including harassment, robbery and corporal injury causing great bodily harm.

Unfortunately, there are often no witnesses to domestic incidents such as this. Often, the incidents are a matter of one person’s word against another’s. Following the arrest, the California man, whose bail was set at $200,000, may feel that he is not fully prepared to make the necessary decisions that he faces as a result of his arrest. He may opt to hire an experienced criminal defense attorney to help guide him through the process. Often, knowing that they have such a professional helping defendants make decisions can potentially help reduce the stress associated with criminal allegations.
