People travel California highways at a variety of different times for a variety of different reasons. According to reports, deputies attempted to stop the woman, suspecting her of driving under the influence. However, deputies claim that the woman refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit that allegedly reached speeds of 70 mph.
The 27-year-old woman reportedly stopped only after arriving at a residence. Police say that she exited the vehicle holding a 3-year-old girl, later identified as her niece. Apparently because there was no car seat in the vehicle, police concluded that the woman was driving with the toddler on her lap. The woman was taken into custody after she allegedly failed a field sobriety test.
