At this time of year, many people in California have their thoughts turned to hot weather and time spent with friends and family. Unfortunately, a day that is meant to be filled with fun and freshly-made memories can turn to tragedy in the blink of an eye. In fact, a man is now charged with vehicular manslaughter following a fatal boating accident.

The incident that resulted in the loss of a life and criminal charges against a 30-year-old man reportedly happened on a day in May 2018. According to reports, the man was was operating a ski boat. Unfortunately, the boat is said to have crashed into the shore of the lake.

Several people were thrown from the boat, allegedly as a result of the collision. A 27-year-old male passenger reportedly died at the scene; his body was discovered by a rescue team approximately 40 feet under the surface of the water. Police suspect that the man operating the boat was intoxicated and took him into custody. He was recently charged with vehicular manslaughter and operating a vessel while under the influence causing injury.
