Young California woman charged with shoplifting from Target

For many people in California and across the country, Target is a store that carries almost anything needed. Unfortunately, police believe that a young woman recently attempted to steal from the store. As a result, she was arrested and now faces accusations of shoplifting.

The incident reportedly began on an afternoon in March. According to reports, the 21-year-old woman walked around the store, placing several items in a cart and basket. One of those items, police say, was a six-pack of beer.

Police believe that the woman then spent an hour in a dressing room drinking the beer. Afterward, she reportedly attempted to leave the store with approximately $200 in unpaid merchandise. She was detained by the store's loss prevention team before being taken into custody by police. Her bond was set at $60,000.

In addition to the shoplifting charges stemming from this incident, the woman is said to have warrants for previous incidents for petty theft and resisting, obstructing or delaying a law enforcement officer or EMT, among other accusations. She is now left to make difficult decisions that will likely impact the rest of her life -- decisions that she may feel unprepared to make. To help them fully understand their legal options and the process they are facing, many people in California accused of a crime hire an experienced criminal defense attorney to guide them. Such a professional can advise them regarding their options while also ensuring that they are treated lawfully throughout the process and take appropriate action if unlawful treatment is suspected.
