An encounter with law enforcement officers can be nerve-wracking. In some cases, a person might react in a way that could make him or her look suspicious or is otherwise out-of-character. Unfortunately, a woman in California now faces criminal charges after she allegedly led police on a high-speed chase.
The woman reportedly became the subject of police scrutiny after someone reported being the victim of identity theft; that victim’s ID was reportedly used to purchase a motorcycle. Police appear to believe that the woman who took part in the chase was responsible for the theft. While details regarding how the alleged chase began are unclear, police report that it began at approximately 7 p.m. on a day in May. The 52-year-old woman was reportedly driving a stolen RV at the time.
Police say that the RV struck six vehicles during the so-called chase, causing significant damage to the RV. It reportedly ended when the woman crashed in a car in a neighborhood. Police say that she then attempted to flee the scene; police say she was taken into custody while attempting to cross a gate. A person in one of the vehicles reportedly suffered significant injuries while the suspect suffered minor ones. There were two dogs in the RV at the time of the chase; one reportedly jumped out during it.
Unfortunately, the alleged California chase has left the woman facing a serious legal situation. Because many people who face criminal charges do not have legal training or experience, most feel unprepared to make the necessary decisions that are facing them. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can help guide them through the process, ensuring that they are able to make informed decisions.
