Though car accidents can happen at any time, some drivers may especially struggle when driving during the early morning hours due to fatigue and lack of visibility, particularly when driving in an area known to those who live there as dangerous. Unfortunately, police say that two people are lucky they did not lose their lives in a recent accident in California. The driver, however, is now facing drunk driving accusations.
The incident reportedly happened during the early morning hours of a day in May. Reports claim that a 23-year-old male made an “unsafe turn.” As result, his vehicle allegedly crashing through a fence into the backyard of a home. The vehicle almost went into the deep end of the home’s pool, according to reports.
The family that owns the home was reportedly inside at the time of the accident and apparently uninjured. Law enforcement officials conducted a field sobriety test of the driver and his passenger; the driver was taken into custody. The crash reportedly resulted in damages estimated to be a few thousand dollars.
Despite the drunk driving allegations against the man, the homeowner claims that it is the second time that someone has crashed into his fence in two year. Others who live in the area also claim that speed bumps are needed, perhaps indicating that the area is prone to accidents. Unfortunately, a young California man is now left responding to the allegations against him, even though it is unclear what his blood alcohol content was at the time of the incident. To be convicted, there must be sufficient evidence to prove that he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt — a standard that is often difficult to meet.
