Most drivers in California are committed to protecting their personal safety as well as the safety of others they may encounter. However, even the most diligent of drivers can sometimes overlook a traffic sign, especially when driving at night. Unfortunately, one man was recently arrested, suspected of drunk driving, after he was allegedly involved in a traffic accident involving a police officer.

The incident reportedly happened just before 11 p.m. on a day in late April. According to reports, a 60-year-old man is accused of failing to stop at a stop sign at an intersection. As a result, his vehicle reportedly struck an on-duty police officer’s patrol car.

Initial reports indicate that the police officer suffered major injuries, but no additional updates on his condition have been made. The other driver reportedly suffered minor injuries. The latter has since been arrested and is being held on $90,000 bond.

Despite the drunk driving allegations made against the California driver, it is unclear how his blood alcohol content was determined or what it was at the time of the collision. Though the time of the accident may make law enforcement officers suspect that alcohol may have been involved, there must be sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt to convict the man of the charges he is facing. He may want an experienced professional on his side — who can carefully examine the evidence — as he responds to the allegations against him. With such assistance, he may feel more confident in his ability to determine the most appropriate course of action for his individual circumstances.
